Galapagos, Ecuador
Giant turtles are unstoppable. Sometimes I would walk down to the turtle walk you can access on foot on Isabela and head along the trails and there would be just massive turtles crashing through the landscape like they were unstoppable. This one for instance I thought was going to run me over when it started coming down the trail towards me. It essentially acted with cosmic right of way and barrelled down on me one steady step at a time. And turtles going through the underbrush are LOUD. Truly I had to remind myself a couple of times that there are no bears in the Galapagos. And sure enough I would turn a corner and there was a turtle who decided this tree was in their way and walking around was absolutely not an option it was going to obliterate this insubordinate flora. Super fascinating how they move too. It was almost like they would charge up with breath before powering forward to pause and then refuel the engine once again.
