Traelanipa, Faroe Islands
I've been eyeing Xavier Bou work for awhile now and this is another experiment at creating the flight pattern photos. Honestly ever since I've seen his beautiful composite images whenever I see birds I'm tempted to grab some quick videos. Though here still I hadn't noticed I was on the wrong card and shooting only in 4k when 8k would be a much better option. That said I think I'm happy enough or tired enough with this now to publish. It's extremely tedious to blend the video stills manually and then bring the flight paths into the higher resolution image. Contrast I'm finding is very important for these so I was very excited when I noticed how the white of the gulls stood out so well on a dark moody day from the cliffs and water below. So while out doing kind of a photo tourism shot I grabbed some footage too. Many parts of the Faroe islands really had a moment on early social media photography so I've wanted for years to make some famous stops for fun. Not a huge fan though of the land management program but ah well maybe the Faroese government will persure a parks system as part of its nation building. I don't love heights I can fall from and man being up on the edge of this cliff to get the pretty angle and switching quickly between settings was deeply unnerving even though I'm sure I was safe were I stood. I'll likely update with other compositions I liked more without the pleasant flight paths through them too.
