Toyosaki, Hokkaido, Japan
In hindsight I don't really know why I drove 16 hours to take these photos. They were still fun but there are other Tori gates in Hokkaido and I got really focused on wanting to have the openess of the flat coast and sea horizon I think. There was also all these fish that kept getting thrown up on the rocky shores by the waves or jumping there so I would throw them back in the water FOR THEM TO JUST COME RIGHT BACK. All in all though I do like the natural contrast of the Tori gate against the bleakness of the surronding landscape with the added textures from the long exposure capturing patterns in the water around it. I think I also soaked my shoes too here as the tide was coming in and after such a long journey I refused to compromise with nature on the composition I wanted to try and capture. This is why you always bring your water shoes folks even if folks think it is weird.
