I was taking pictures of a nearby waterfall and a light rain started to mist the area so I packed up my photo gear to explore for a bit but then I came across this shallow rocky beach beneath another smaller waterfall. I remember looking out thinking the world had this very beautiful cloak of dim greyness draped over it by the weather that would probably really accentuate the light tones it was suffused by if it were in black and white. So it ended up being a lot of phone to time the waves as they came in so my lens wasn't completely covered by the rain but so that I could try and catch the trails and spray of the waves. Also I spent a ton of time just trying to get a look at these cool birds that would fly up on the pinnacle of rock across the little bay before doing gentle circles in the air for a little bit. And I think there was also something cool to the contrast of the smoothness of the rocks on the beach contrasted against the hexagonal columns across the bay and contrasted again with the texture of the horizontal rocks above making for some layers of texture that are easier to focus on in black and white.
