Montserrat, Spain
I would like to go back and scout the area a bit more as I sort of explored around randomly racing the sunset to get some more dramatic lighting. Here though probably mostly through chance I actually remembered to take into account the shadow cast by a mountain range and didn't mistakenly time things for the horizon sunset. So I was able to catch a very cool sun flare as it slipped beneath the majestic peaks. Which this whole area is so cool with the way it looks like boulders were placed or burst upwards on and through the mountains. I'm glad I found this spot too since I just kept following this path behind a chapel on the mountain side that led me through vegetable gardens and patches of thorns with little gate like openings. At last it opened out onto a clearing and it was awe inspiring to have step out into both the sweeping views of the peaks pictured but also looked back down to the church complex and further out to the valley and plains below. It was also fun as it was the perfect vantage point to watch all the miniature forms of other hikers making their way up and down the trails too but just at the right distance for it feel a bit surreal like human ants winding down a trail. Hard to capture here though is how BRIGHT it was and I am so glad I'm using a digital viewfinder these days or I'd have lit my retina on fire.
