Larch Valley Trail, Alberta, Canada
I love the larches and find it so cool there's a shedding needle tree in the Rocky Mountains. It's also the brilliance of them and their intensity and synchronicity. Normally for fall photos I'm trying to scout a location and time the folliage but without much certainity of exactly which trees will change in what order and only a rough colour approximation of how things may turn out. But with the larches you get a brilliant enchanting golden fire that ripples through the mountain valleys. With the added bonus that if you hike up for sunrise you get the morning warm light making them glow even further. Looking at this again I do want to make it back out again to try for a sunset shot of the area too if I can get up there. I was really fortunate to have made an insane middle of the night decision to drive out there and manage to snag one of the last parking spots in the middle of the night.
