Lake Kawaguchi, Japan
So this is another Matt gets stuck somewhere because he took photos for too long photos. Despite the intentions of the attendant who carefully described the bus schedule to me I read the 24 hour time wrong and thought there was a bus at 7pm and missed the last 5pm bus RIP. Stranded at Lake Shoji I had to walk the 18km back to town in the process arriving just after the train station closed and the ticketing machines shut down. It being Japan, I popped into a konbini to grab some snacks and bored waiting for the morning trains decided I might as well photograph Fujisan from lake next to town too. Which led to me camped out all night on the lake shore to catch the dawn light with these very kind ducks who'd swim carefully barely splitting the waters to give perspective. And the dawn conditions were beautiful with still air and soft glowing light laid out on the mountain. It was a bit misty throughout the night or I'd have tried for some starry night skies over Fujisan too but that can wait for the next I'm stuck nearby. Also I know I talk about how the camera set up attracts strangers who want their photos taken or to chat, but it really does! Here a polite Japanese man in a 3 piece suit scaled down the lake embankment to ask for his photo taken next to the lake at like 5am! Oh also bonus photo below of the apparently famous Lawson I unknowingly captured before they put up the barricade.
