Kirkjufellsfoss, Iceland
It was fun to back to this old composition now almost 8 years later and see what 2026 Matt would immediately do differently. The perspective is a bit high, the verticle angle is too high as well, the edge of the lower frame is clipping a rock that I would prefer it not to, etc. Mostly this is comforting as I've done so many landscape compositions (they tend to be accessible and a great way to feel connected to the world) that I actually do think I've improved over time. Sometimes lately specifically with landscape photos I worry I am not pushing myself to learn and grow enough and somehow drive forward my skillset for this particular type of photography. And I try and mix things up more now but doing different types of compositions is not really the same as getting better at one I don't think. All said though it was nice to revist this one. This is the kind of tourist shot bucket list photo where part of the excitment was getting the chance to be in that place and capture a moment there like the many photos of it that had inspired me greatly before visitng. And now hopefully this uploads and I rest.
