Earnslaw Glacier, New Zealand
I am actually amazed looking back at these at how much the shadow of the cliffs and glacier desaturated the landscape. In the light the dying grasses were such a brilliant gold but here they are small islands among frosted patches with the barest greens sneaking through of some shrubbery. Still a very fun view especially when the helicopters get out of the way and don't land right in the most impressive composition which is just so weird since they are taking people up for quick 30 minute photo sessions. Still incredibly beautiful here even with a bit of a shadow of austerity and the much thinner falls as the rains had paused for a few days. I foolishy thought oh well maybe the trail will be drier and less painful after a few dry days. No, still incredibly wet and muddy just go after rains for more falls folks. I feel like thin trickling still does work here or at least I find it pleasing for this type of winter composition.
