Here I really liked the looming aspect of the elevation of the cathedral that split the fore and background as the cathedral and the sky felt to me like it hung over the scene. I also really liked the leading lines from the stonework heading into the composition and the presence of two layers of anonymous subjects too with their faces turned from the camera and importantly towards the focal point of the image. I find my eye falls the woman sitting on the stones gaze to the family walking up the stairs to the building they are going towards naturally. Additionally I really like the added pops of colour in the toques, scarves, and even the jeans that contrast from the other warms and blues that are present in the fading sunlight. Now I would love if the stonework and the building were actually fully aligned and I remember thinking I had some kind of new vision problem before figuring out the subject itself can't be made fully square. There is another shot from here where a very cute kitten or small cat was wandering through the image looking for attention and in general keeping me company which maybe I will share at some point.
