Torres del Paine, Chile
So I think this is a fairly typical tourist shot from Torres del Paine but it still was a lot of fun to get to visit a destination I'd seen photographed a lot over the years. Really impressive how large these mountains loom suddenly here too. Hiking is fairly chill and then all of a sudden I crossed over a ridge of scree and these massive walls exploded out from the landscape ringing the extremely large lake too. Very cool to have also had the pilot circle these mountains on the flight into Peurto Natales too. Overall this hike in particular is extremely commercialized which left a bad taste in my mouth. There's literally a air conditioned gift shop and convenience store with automatic doors you are forced to walk through to start the hike. And the trails are extremely controlled to try and encouraged folks to do slow expensive hiking through the trails with lots of intrusive building done as far as I could tell. But even given all that it was really cool to make it up there for some quick shots. I settled on this composition because I really liked the wispy clouds that made their way through. Definitely torn on a wider composition where you can see the clouds piling against the left mountain peaks but for now I'll go with this one.
