Forgot my hiking boots and drove 3 hours at 5am, only brought enough water for a short tourist hike, let an adventurous American convince me to venture across the larger plateau eating snow to survive, find almost no photo vistas in the midday sunlight, etc. Was a fun day but definitely not a productive photographic one until exhausted I was poking around the lower pathway system and came across a really striking band of snow encircling a small pond in front of the volcano. I think what most stopped me in my tracks was all the layers of colours opening up from the band of snow. So all in all a win for a location I wasn't expecting to yield anything to publish from.
